Electives and Support Staff
The elective teachers at MCCS provide a variety of learning experiences for our students. They enhance the abilities that students possess and unlock skills that students were unaware of. Mrs. Maloney is passionate about all forms of art and this passion is infectious with our students. Mrs. Eller provides technology support to our staff, teaches computer skills, and collaborates with middle school teachers through interdisciplinary assignments. Mr. Welborn is all about having fun while exercising, and reinforcing positive behaviors through sport. Mrs. Poppi helps students develop confidence, work together, and find their voice through choir. Mrs. Michelle and Mrs. Sylena provide educational support to students and collaborate with teachers to ensure that students reach their potential.

My name is Erica Maloney. This is my 21st year teaching art and my fourth year as an MCCS Lion. I worked for 17 years in the public school system before coming to MCCS. I am married to my wonderful husband, Jason, who is a speech pathologist, and we have an amazing eight-year-old daughter who also attends MCCS. I am originally from Pennsylvania but have been living in NC since starting my teaching career in 2004. I received my bachelor's degree in art education with a minor in jewelry and metal smithing from Edinboro University of PA and my master's degree in art education from the University of NC Pembroke. I love to make art in all forms and mediums, but I especially love drawing, painting, and making jewelry. I am so excited to continue being a part of the MCCS Lion's family and look forward to a fantastic year teaching art and spreading the word of God!

I was born and raised here in Wilkes County. I have been married to my husband Larry for 23 years. We have an amazing little boy that attends MCCS. I consider myself blessed to become a part of the MCCS family. I previously worked in retail for over 25 years and I am so excited to be part of this awesome ministry. I love the outdoors and all it has to offer. I also love to craft and garden but my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family and my son. My favorite verse of the Bible is Romans 8:28.

I have been married for over 30 years with two beautiful children. We have seen many miracles throughout our lives. As an active church member, my husband and I support many ministries. I have been at MCCS for over 20 years. Working here is something I love to do and it allows Jesus to work through me in ministering to future generations.

First and foremost, I am a proud servant of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I enjoy using the talents that the Lord has blessed me with to praise Him through music at Millers Creek Baptist Church. I am also an avid disc golf player and supporter of the Millers Creek Christian School Athletics department and can proudly say I was one of Coach Gurchiek's athletes. I use Joshua 1:9 as my life guide. Finally, I am a proud Millers Creek Christian School alumnus where I grew both in faith and academics for the entirety of my primary and secondary education.

Millers Creek Christian School is a wonderful school and I am thrilled to be a part of the program here. I have a BA from Campbell University in Religion and Christian Ministries and a BS from UNC-Greensboro in Deaf Education with an emphasis in Educational Interpreting. I love our students and enjoy seeing them learn new things everyday!

I have been married for 31 years. We have one son, and two furbabies. I attend Maple Springs Baptist Church in Purlear. I enjoy reading, camping, and spending time with my family. I was previously a kindergarten teaching assistant for 5 years here at MCCS, and have now moved to the educational therapy department. I am blessed.

I am a wife and a mother. I started at MCCS in January of 2023. I am so thankful God has placed me at this school. I have worked with so many amazing kids. I like to read and crochet and spend time with my family. I am also very active in my church.
