High School and High School Staff
Various publishers are used for our High School curriculum. Social Studies, Science, and Spanish classes use BJU materials, Math classes use Holt, English classes read a variety of classic novels, and Bible courses use materials from Alpha & Omega and Positive Action. Students take Bible each year of high school and all high school students participate in monthly service projects, as part of their Bible grade. All high school courses are year-long, except for Spanish 1 & 2 (semester courses). Juniors and Senior have the opportunity to take dual enrollment courses through the CCCP program at Wilkes Community College. In addition to academic requirements, our seniors must participate in the senior mission trip (1 week in the spring) and complete 20 hours of volunteer service prior to graduation. The high school staff sets high academic standards because we believe that all students can learn and succeed with the appropriate support. Please visit our Alumni page, where you can read testimonials and view colleges that our graduates have attended.

I teach Geography, World History, U.S. History and Civics and Economics here at MCCS. I have 5 children who attend here at MCCS as well, and we love doing anything outdoors and just spending time together.

I am in my 31st year of teaching, my second year here at Millers Creek Christian School. My family and I have been members of Millers Creek Baptist for 25 years. My husband, John, is Testing Director for NCDPI in this region of the state. Our daughter, Sierra, is 25, graduated from Liberty University in 2020 and currently is a writer/editor with Samaritan’s Purse. Our son, Jonathan, graduated this spring from Western Carolina and is the Technical Director at HART Theatre in Haywood county. I am looking forward to an awesome year!

I am originally from Mississippi and met my wife in college. She is from Wilkes county where we settled and raised our two daughters. I have taught middle and high school math and science for the past 29 years. I am also the pastor at Zion Hill.
