I am so excited to be a part of the Millers Creek Christian School family! I was born and raised in Newport News, VA and am the proud granddaughter of two World War II veterans! As a graduate of Denbigh Baptist Christian School, I developed a deep love and respect for Christian education where I benefited from rigorous academics, comprehensive biblical study, competitive athletics, and a nurturing Christian environment.
Upon graduation, I attended Christopher Newport University where I earned a B.A. in History with a Minor in Leadership and later earned a Master of Arts in Teaching with a concentration in Secondary Education. During my collegiate career I was a member of the President’s Leadership Program, served as Vice President of Membership for Sigma Alpha Iota (Women’s International Music Fraternity), coached recreation league cheerleading, interned with an archaeology firm in Williamsburg, VA, and was a graduate fellow.
I began my career in education as a history teacher at Warwick High School in Newport News, VA. My husband and I decided to move back to his hometown (Wilkesboro, NC) in 2010. I taught at Central Wilkes Middle School and Wilkes Central High School for several years and during that time obtained my License in School Administration. In August 2017, I became an Exceptional Children’s Program Specialist for Curriculum and Instruction for Davie County Schools. While in Davie County, I supported elementary through high school regular and EC teachers by providing professional development and coaching in the areas of reading, writing, and math research and instructional practice.
I am so excited to serve God and our community through Millers Creek Christian School. I believe that all students can learn and be successful. My desire is that we cultivate each student’s God-given abilities so that they can serve Him as a productive member of our community. We will achieve this through hard work, prayer, and collaboration between the school, families, and community. Thank you so much for this opportunity to serve and please continue to pray for the school!
