Elementary and Elementary Staff
K5 and 1st grade use the ABeka curriculum for Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Biblical instruction. 2nd grade uses a combination of ABeka, Evan Moore, and BJU curriculum for Reading, Vocabulary Acquisition, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Biblical instruction. 3rd through 5th grades use a combination of Purposeful Design (ACSI), Evan Moor, Heritage Studies (BJU) curriculum for Reading, Vocabulary Acquisition, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Biblical instruction. All elementary students participate in Art, PE, and Computers on a daily basis as well as Choir on a weekly basis. The elementary staff has a wealth of experience and works diligently to help our students succeed academically and grow socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Nan Holder | K5 Teacher
This is my 18th year teaching here at Millers Creek Christian School. I graduated from WGU with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I attend Pilgrim Baptist Church where I assist in the Preschool - Kindergarten Sunday School and also assist with Children's Church. Other than teaching I enjoy walking, rock painting and spending time with my family.
Sylena Winebarger | K5 Assistant Teacher
I attend church at Maple Springs Baptist Church. I am married, my husband and I have a one son. I currently am a student at Wilkes Community College. I enjoy reading, camping, fishing and time with my family.
Kristen Parsons | 1st Grade Teacher
My name is Kristen Welborn Parsons. I have an elementary education degree from Appalachian State University. I have been teaching for 29 years. I taught thirteen years in public school before moving to MCCS. I married my high school sweetheart and we have two boys, Grayson and Issac. Both attended here at MCCS and both are now attending college at Appalachian State University.
Wendy Dawson| 1st Grade Assistant Teacher
Hi, my name is Wendy Dawson. I am a K-6 Elementary Education graduate from App State. I taught in Wilkes County Public Schools for 30 years before I retired in 2019. I love to teach and work with children, so after a year of "retirement life", I came to work at the Millers Creek Christian School where I have the awesome privilege of working in first grade with my sister, Kristen Parsons. My wonderful husband, Tom and I have been married for 28 years and we have two terrific children, Abby and Garrett. We have three dogs that we adore. We are members of Wilkesboro Baptist Church and we love our church family. In my spare time I love to spend time with my parents, watch college football and wash clothes.
Nikki Huffman | 2nd Grade Teacher
My name is Nikki Huffman and I am the second grade teacher at MCCS. This is my 4th year at MCCS. I am married to my wonderful husband Chris and we have three children and a dog, Rosie. I taught in public school for 10 years before staying at home for seven years with our children. I am loving being back in the classroom. I enjoy spending the weekends with our family and our church family.

My name is Kellcey Osborne. I have 3 kids. I graduated from Wilkes Community College. I love photography, music, videography, horseback riding, and spending time with my family.
Cindy Parsons | English Teacher, 3rd-5th Grades & 3rd Grade Bible
I love reading to my students! I have taught various grades throughout my 30 years in public school. Once I retired, I began working here at MCCS. I am now beginning my fourth year at MCCS teaching ELA in grades 3-5. I love spending time with her family and cooking for other people.
Stacey Herman | Science/Social Studies 3-5th Grade Teacher & 4th Grade Bible
I am originally from New England. We moved to NC in 2015. I have been a stay at home mom since my twins were born in 2012. During that time, I have volunteered at school for all three of my children, served on PTA and have been team mom for all of our children's sports. We love football & cheering, spending time at the beach and our sweet Yorkiepoo Cookie.
Marie Waddell | Math Teacher, 3rd-5th Grades & 5th Grade Bible
I graduated from Campbell University with a degree in Elementary Education. I retired from teaching in the Wilkes County school system. My husband and I have four special grandchildren that I love to read to. I enjoy reading, cooking, gardening and taking care of our horses.
