Hi, my name is Wendy Dawson. I am a K-6 Elementary Education graduate from App State. I taught in Wilkes County Public Schools for 30 years before I retired in 2019. I love to teach and work with children, so after a year of "retirement life", I came to work at the Millers Creek Christian School where I have the awesome privilege of working in first grade with my sister, Kristen Parsons. My wonderful husband, Tom and I have been married for 28 years and we have two terrific children, Abby and Garrett. We have three dogs that we adore. We are members of Wilkesboro Baptist Church and we love our church family. In my spare time I love to spend time with my parents, watch college football and wash clothes.

Kaylene Burcham | 2nd Grade Assistant Teacher [email protected]
I'm a Wilkes County native with a passion for music, traveling, and all forms of art, especially the rhetorical arts of reading and writing. I taught high school ELA for twenty-five years, one year as an adjunct at Appalachian State University. My son, Bradford, served as a United States Marine and now pursues an aerospace engineering degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Away from MCCS, I pursue a minimalist lifestyle, I work on personal writing projects, I enjoy hiking and live music, and I seek and strive to follow God's calling in my life.
Christy Palmer | English Teacher, 3rd-5th Grades & 3rd Grade Bible [email protected]
I'm going on ten years of North Carolina living! I hail from Erie, PA, (think snow) and graduated with a BS in Elementary Education and an Art Education certificate, attending way back in the glory days of Joe Paterno and Penn State football (“WE ARE [stomp, stomp] PENN STATE!”). I was a homeschool mom of three and taught them for over fifteen years, until each graduated. When my three went off to college I was called into missionary work in Liberia, West Africa. I represented my church denomination while working for an international Christian NGO called Rafiki. I taught elementary school in an orphanage that used curriculum from the classical education approach to children ages 8-13. I am super excited to get to know my school family, both children and parents!
Stacey Herman | Science/Social Studies 3-5th Grade Teacher & 4th Grade Bible [email protected]
I am originally from New England. We moved to NC in 2015. I have been a stay at home mom since my twins were born in 2012. During that time, I have volunteered at school for all three of my children, served on PTA and have been team mom for all of our children's sports. We love football & cheering, spending time at the beach and our sweet Yorkiepoo Cookie.
